Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Jennifer Nguyen developed a deep passion for both the sciences and helping others. She earned dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. Her love for physics and desire to make a difference in people’s lives led her to pursue a career in optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.
During her time in Boston, Dr. Nguyen not only refined her clinical knowledge and proficiency but also embraced the city’s cultural richness. She had the opportunity to serve diverse patient populations in communities such as Dorchester, East Boston, and the Perkins School for the Blind. Additionally, her experience at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont, was invaluable and deeply shaped her approach to patient care. While treating a wide range of patients, she often encountered multiple language barriers, which revealed a profound truth: vision is a gift, a universal experience that transcends language. Furthermore, she believes that even those without sight experience and engage with the world in uniquely meaningful ways. This realization deepened her passion for optometry and fortified her belief in the importance of individualized care.
After her time in Boston, Dr. Nguyen returned to California, where she continued to care for diverse patient populations before ultimately moving to Calgary. She is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that respects the unique needs of each individual. Outside of optometry, she finds joy in spending time with her husband and two children, embracing the simple moments and shared experiences that create lasting memories.
